As a result, local workers are required to perform tasks that were previously carried out by foreign labourers. This study aims to identify the productivity of local labour among Smallholders (PKS) in Serian, Sarawak. A total of 56 respondents were selected as samples using purposive sampling methods. The selected respondents are PKS who employ local labour for their plantations. The study found that the local labour used comprises family members, relatives, and villagers. No local labour from outside the area was employed. The types of tasks performed include tapping trees, fertilizing, pruning, harvesting fruit, collecting fruit, loading fruit into trucks, and driving trucks. In terms of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) production, the number of FFB produced per ton per month is mostly between 1 to 2 tons per 1 to 2 acres of oil palm plantation, which equals 12 tons per acre per year. This yield is relatively high compared to the national average for smallholders, which is 8 tons per acre per year. The implication of this study is that effective strategies should be developed involving the MPOB (Malaysian Palm Oil Board) and PKS to encourage more local people to work in the industry, so that the palm oil sector does not continue to rely on foreign labour.
2024-10-30T13:05:13+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://insaniah.umk.edu.my/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/277A Study on the Relationship between Religious Practices and Life Satisfaction Among Muslims performing Hijrah2024-11-04T03:18:45+00:00Juliarni Siregare19e0047f@siswa.umk.edu.myAteerah Binti Abdul Razakateerah@umk.edu.myYohan Kurniawanyohan@um.edu.myNursalihah Binti Ahmad Rastonnursalihah.ar@umk.edu.my
When a Muslim commits hijrah, he or she has abandoned evil deed and repented. Previous research shows that religious practices have a significant positive relationship with life satisfaction, but there is not much research that can explain how religious practices can produce life satisfaction among Muslims. This research aims to find out how a model of achieving life satisfaction through religious practices which involves attachment to God and religious support as a mediator. The snowball sampling technique determined 469 Muslims performing hijrah in Indonesia who participated in the study. The research instruments used are the Psychological Measure of Islamic Religiousness (PMIR) subscale of religious practices, the Muslim Spiritual Attachment Scale (M-SAS), the Multifaith Religious Support Scale, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. Statistical analysis using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) Partial Least Square (PLS) reveals a significant relationship between religious practice and life satisfaction, mediated by attachment to God and religious support. This means that when worship is able to build an attachment to God, then the attachment creates the feeling that Allah SWT and the people in the religious community support him or her. Religious practices will have a positive impact on the life satisfaction of a Muslim who performs hijrah.
2024-10-30T00:00:00+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://insaniah.umk.edu.my/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/295Digital Reading Module at Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau: A Needs Analysis2024-11-04T03:19:13+00:00Wandi Syahfutrawandisyahfutra@umri.ac.idWan Ab Aziz Wan Daudabaziz.wd@umk.edu.myNur Hafezah Husseinnhafezah@umk.edu.my
Developing an e-reading module tailored to university students requires a comprehensive understanding of their needs, including their reading habits, preferences, and challenges in the digital environment. This study conducted a needs analysis to inform the development of an e-reading module for university students. The method of this study was quantitative, and the data was collected through a questionnaire.
